Medication Administration Technician- Initial
Course Description:
The Initial Medication Administration Technician (MAT) is a 16-hour program completed on two consecutive days. The MAT class at MTC is structured and led by a licensed nurse or a pharmacist who is an instructor. The MAT course trains the Student on administering medications safely, Infection Control, Checking Vital Signs, Monitoring Clients, and Documentation. As MAT-certified, you can work and pass medications in Assisted Living, Memory Care Facilities, Group Homes, and Homes for Disabled people. As a MAT certified, you can also provide private care to help a client with medications. The MAT certification does not allow the holder to work in a Long-Term Care facility in Oklahoma. MAT certification must be renewed annually by attending a minimum 6-hour MAT Update class. The Medication Administration Technician (MAT) program is approved by the Department of Human Services (DHS) under the Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS).
Upon successful completion and graduation from this Program, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and a Training Completion Affirmation Form. The School shall also submit a copy of the graduate’s Certificate of Completion and Verification Form to OKDHS-DDS, and the graduate will be Certified by the OKDHS-DDS as a Medication Administration Technician in Oklahoma.

Admission Requirements:
- Fill out an Application either online or in person.
- Minimum age: 18 Years.
- High School Diploma, GED, or another Equivalency, or higher.
- Current photo ID issued by the government e.g., State Identification card or Driver’s License, Passport Card, Passport, Military ID, Greencard, Work Authorization Card).
- Social Security Card or replacement letter from the Social Security Administration’s office.
Successful Completion:
- Complete 3 Exams with a minimum score of 85% on each exam.
- Complete 3 Skills; with a Score of 100% on each skill.
- Vital signs: BP, HR, Temp, RR.
- Medications pass to 5 patients on the Med Cart.
Certification Exam:
- The Student who is unable to obtain a score of 85% after taking the test two times must retake the class on a different date.
- The Instructor is responsible for administering a written test to each student participant and directly observing the completion of the test.
MAT Certificate:
A student who has met all the requirements and completed MAT Initial or Renewal training shall be issued Certificate Number C-0226, a Certificate of Medication Administration Training by MedNoc Training College. MTC shall submit proof of Completion Certificate to the Department of Human Services (DHS), under the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDS) Human Resource Development Unit, within three days of the completed training.

NOTE: Other additional costs include but are not limited to uniforms and textbooks. The cost of the textbook is $55.00. The textbook is required.
Medication Administration Technician- Update
MAT-Update is a 6-hour class required annually to renew MAT certification in Oklahoma. A licensed nurse or pharmacist instructs the MAT Renewal Course. The Medication Administration Technician update satisfies the required continuing education. The Student must present a copy of the unexpired MAT certificate; if the MAT certification has expired, it should not be more than 60 days. If the MAT certification has expired over 60 days, the Student must complete 16 hours of Initial MAT training.
Upon successful completion of this Course, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and a Training Completion Affirmation Form. The School will submit proof of the Certificate of Completion to the Department of Human Services (DHS), under the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDS) Human Resource Development Unit, within three days of the completed update.
