Dear Student/Instructor/Staff,

RE: TRANSITIONING TO ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM

The spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and its cases of infection and deaths associated with the virus have multiplied and gone up several folds in Oklahoma and the US in general since we closed our school on 03/17/2020 with the hope to reopen back on Monday, 04/06/2020. As a consequence of this development, MedNoc Training College is making every effort to ensure that we provide a learning environment that is healthy and safe during the pandemic outbreak of COVID-19. Therefore, MedNoc Training College has taken the following measures:

  1. Effective 04/13/2020; MedNoc Training College shall transition all classes and learning activities to an online platform until the problem with COVID-19 resolves.
  2. All courses shall be restarted on 04/13/2020.
  3. Enrollment of new students will only be handled after scheduling a phone call appointment with the admissions. The student enrollment process and paperwork shall be conducted electronically.
  4. Student payments shall be submitted through the school website or phone by calling 405-225-7876.
  5. Students shall have frequent meetings and interaction with their instructors through WhatsApp Video chats/calls. Students may also contact their instructor through the instructor’s email or phone.
  6. Students are encouraged to contact the school by email at info@mednoc.com or call 405-225-7876 for any questions.
  7. Students not wanting to do online classes have the option to remain enrolled until the school resumes classes on campus.
  8. Students are encouraged to visit the school Website, Facebook Page, and Twitter for any updates regarding this notice.
  9. The Administration office shall remain remotely opened only to serve the major functions of the school.

Therefore, I hope that by transitioning our training to an online platform will help our students to continue with their learning as we all tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. Please stay home and be safe. I assure you that we will get through this together, and our lives shall back to normal.

Meanwhile, I will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and update you with any new development. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

RE: COVID-19 (CORONA VIRUS)

As you are aware, the cases of the spread of the Corona Virus and infection has been increasing in the US lately. As a school, we are making every effort to provide a campus environment that is healthy and safe during the pandemic outbreak of COVID-19.

Therefore, due to the spread of COVID-19 (Corona Virus), MedNoc Training College has taken the following measures to ensure both the health and the safety of our students and our staff:

1. Effective 03/13/2020, the student clinical rotations are hereby suspended until further notice. No NEW CLINICAL SCHEDULING TO THE FACILITY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The suspension of clinical rotation is meant to minimize the chances of spreading COVID-19. However, the school shall provide an alternative clinical training in the school’s skills laboratory for the amount of actual clinical hours assigned to the program.

2. Instructors are required to follow the schedule on the course syllabus and provide clinical training in the skills lab during the times the students are scheduled to be at the clinical site. For students who are not wanting to complete their clinical time in the skills but want to attend their clinical rotation at a facility shall wait until the school resumes external clinical rotations to the facilities.

3. Students who are currently enrolled in any of our programs and are actively engaged in clinical rotations at this time may continue to attend clinical and log clinical hours. However, the student should not participate in the care of any patients who are deemed high risk for COVID-19 or are in isolation.

4. A student who is currently attending clinical rotation, and he/she is concerned about the potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 should inform their instructor so that the clinical rotation can be canceled. The school will be flexible in rescheduling the student’s clinical rotation to a later date, or the student will be allowed to complete the clinical hours in the skills lab.

5. Students must maintain ethical standards by reporting travel and other potential exposures to the Corona Virus.

6. Due to the Corona Virus, MedNoc Training College has canceled graduation ceremony, scheduled on 03/28/2020. Students who were scheduled to attend their graduation on 03/28/2020 may attend the next graduation scheduled on June 27, 2020.

Meanwhile the school will continue to monitor the situation very closely and will update the students of any substantial changes.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 405-225-7876.

Sincerely,

Paul Mungiria, RN, BSN, CCRN.

CHANGE IN AGENCY PRACTICE REGARDING DISTRIBUTION OF NURSE AIDE CERTIFICATION RENEWAL CARDS.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), Nurse Aide Registry (NAR), will no longer print and mail certification cards for the renewal of nurse aide certification(s) in Long Term Care (LTC), Home Health Aide (HHA), Developmentally Disabled Direct Care Aide (DDCA), Residential Care Aide (RCA), Adult Day Care Aide (ADCA), and Certified Medication Aide (CMA) (including advanced CMA classifications).

Certified nurse aides will receive a certification card with their initial placement on the Nurse Aide Registry.  This is the only certification card which will be mailed to the nurse aide.  The card will give the date the aide was first certified and placed on the Nurse Aide Registry, but without an expiration date.  It will state on the card, “Verify the status of certification at: http://nar.health.ok.gov

Certified Nurse Aides can click on “Verify a Nurse Aide is on the Registry” to verify and print certification status.  Employers are required to verify certified nurse aides status through the National Background Check Program and can also use “Verify a Nurse Aide is on the Registry” for their records.

You can obtain another initial certification card if needed by submitting the Duplicate or Amended Nurse Aide Card Application, ODH Form 738, found on the Nurse Aide Registry website at:  http://nar.health.ok.gov   There is a $10.00 fee to re-issue the initial certification card for all certifications except Long Term Care, which is free.

Please contact our office at (405) 271-4085 if you are unable to verify a nurse aide certification or if you have questions about this practice.

For more information regarding, please visit the Oklahoma Nurse Aide registry website at:
